Can soda be safely packed in checked luggage on an airline?

We’re flying on vacation next week, and we have a preferred soda that can’t easily be purchased. We’d like to pack a twelve-pack of it in our luggage, wrapped in plastic bags. Is this safe? Or do we need to worry about the carbonated sodas exploding? Is the luggage hold of airplanes pressurized, like the cabin?

the bigger risk is that they will freeze, particularly if it’s diet soda. The temperature at high altitudes is below zero, and right now much of the ground temps are too. These bags will be sitting out in the cold on the ramp and in the cargo hold.
